2015 "Places With a Past" Tour

Sunday, August 2- " Places With A Past" Historic Homes and Buildings Tour is a one-day, self-guided tour of lovingly restored Victorian and historic Adobe homes. The Las Vegas Harvey Girls will be your docents at the Castaneda Hotel, a Fred Harvey Hotel. Also included on the tour is the newly renovated Historic Serf Theater, with its beautiful mural. Background history and the unique features of each place will be provided by docents/guides. The tour runs from 9am to 5 pm. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at our office, 116 Bridge St. Credit cards are accepted.

LVCCHP Annual Dinner

Please join us for our annual awards dinner on January 31, 2015, at Charlie's Banquet Room, 715 Douglas Ave. at 5pm. There will be a Cash Bar, Silent Auction, Dinner and Awards Program. The doors will open at 5pm. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at 116 Bridge Street, LVCCHP's office.

New Exhibit at LVCCHP Opening December 5, 2014

LVCCHP is excited to announce the opening of a new exhibit called "Memories of Migration: Las Vegas" on December 5, 2014.Created by NMHU Media Arts students, the exhibit will run through January 14, 2015. Join us on December 5, for a chance to meet the students who created the exhibit and have refreshments.

Fred Harvey Exhibit

Come to LVCCHP and see a wonderful exhibit of Fred Harvey memorabilia on loan from the private collection of Everet Apodaca and John Valdes. Now till November 15, 2014.

Reception for a former Harvey Girl

OPEN HOUSE Reception at LVCCHP on Saturday, 18 October@ 2 PM. Come meet Nina Strong, a Castaneda Harvey Girl and hear her touching story about life as a Harvey Girl in 1941 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Rosa Latimer, author of Harvey Houses of Texas will be here to interview Nina for her new book, Harvey Houses of New Mexico.

Tuesday, August 5th--Blessing of the Waters, following mass at Our Lady of Sorrows and IC Church, join the procession to the Gallinas River.

Wednesday, August 6th, 7 to 10 pm--Cowboy Concert and Dance at the Plaza Hotel Ballroom; $10

Friday, August 8, 5 to 7 pm--Pioneer Dinner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Center; $10

Ann Spiess Mill Program

Stop by LVCCHP on Sunday, August 3, at 1:30 pm for a great program about the folk art of Ann Spiess Mill. See many examples of her beautiful work. Another great Las Vegas Heritage Week event.

Friday, August 1, of Las Vegas Heritage Week

Two exciting events planned for Friday, August 1, Las Vegas Heritage Week. (1) 6PM: An interesting talk about Billie the Kid at the Plaza Hotel, followed by dinner. Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Plaza and LVCCHP, 116 Bridge St. (2) NIght Skies Anyone?—View the stars from NMHU Melody Park & Observatory from 8PM to 11PM, weather permitting.
